The HottShotts espresso coffee stand is an "at-risk" youth work - training program. Located in the King County Regional Justice Center in Kent, HottShotts provides up to eighteen months of work training to at-risk youth acquiring the highly marketable retail skills of a barista. Operated by Kent Youth & Family Services under and in-kind lease agreement with King County Facilities Management, the program trains youth who have been previously adjudicated in the juvenile justice system and /or are at-risk of entering the juvenile justice system. As each youth nears completion of barista training, adult supervisory staff assist each trainee in securing independent employment in the for-profit retail coffee business. The program relates beautifully to the agency's mission of providing....
"....professional counseling, education and support services to children, youth and their families in our community, developing innovative programs that meet the evolving challenges of our diverse community in culturally sensitive ways.".
