This year the Kent Community is facing two major challenges/threats to our families, homes, schools and businesses:
KYFS takes these two threats seriously and has developed plans for each. We hope you do too. Please review the steps we are asking you to take while accessing services at KYFS.
Pandemic Swine (H1N1) Flu
Should you or anyone in your home develop flu like symptoms please remain at home and notify your KYFS counselor of cancellation of appointment. During this time if you or anyone in your household has a temperature of 100 degrees or over please stay home for a period of no less than 24 hours after the fever has ended.
Cover your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing whether or not your are near others - KYFS will provide Kleenex boxes in convenient locations in all waiting areas.
Wash your hands between the time you enter the building and your scheduled appointment with your counselor. In addition to the bathrooms for hand washing, KYFS will provide Purell gel hand washer in convenient locations in all waiting areas.
If you are in a risk group for H1N1, children and pregnancy in particular, seek a flue shot or ask your KYFS counselor how and where to receive a flu shot.
Green River Valley Flooding
STAY INFORMED ON DEVELOPMENTS ON GEEN RIVER FLOODING!
Kent and King County have established an emergency notification system. Add your family name to the distribution list at : www.kencodred.com.
A three level public broadcast notification system for imminent alert has been established. Familiarize yourself with the alert system and take the appropriate steps associated with the alert level. Information about the flooding is available at www.kingcounty.gov/floodplans and www.wsdot.wa.gov/northeast/greenriver.
KYFS will attempt to provide necessary services at alternate locations in the event of any and every flooding occurrence. Should flooding occur your counselor will contact you about your scheduled appointment, change of time and place. You may also check our web site anytime for information about the agency's status. We will also leave updates on our phone line, 253-859-0300, if it is operational.
